ABOUT THE TUTOR

Mr Kelvin Yap has been teaching English Language and English Literature since 1997.

In Bendemeer Secondary School, he achieved value-added results in both English Language and English Literature for the school in 2001-2003, as HOD (English).

In Raffles Institution, he taught 'O' Level classes in 2004 (achieving results of 80% distinctions) and the Integrated Programme from 2005 to 2013. He has also authored numerous assessment books in English Language (Secondary) and General Paper, which were retailed in Popular Bookstore outlets.

While in Temasek Junior College, he taught General Paper and English Literature (H1 & H2), with his GP students achieving 73% A/B grades and 100% passes in the 2016 GCE 'A' Levels.

In the 2017 Promotional Examinations (JC1 level), 60% of his students scored A/B grades, and there were 100% passes.

In the 2017 GCE 'A' Levels, Mr Yap's GP students achieved 48% A grades, 81% A/B grades and 100% passes. For H2 English Literature (2017), his students achieved A and B grades.

In the 2017 & 2018 GCE 'O' Levels, Mr Yap's students achieved 75% distinctions (A1/A2 grades) and 100% passes.

Mr Yap provides customised, no-frills instruction and detailed feedback. His lessons are up-to-date and concise, factoring in current assessment trends pertaining to national examinations.

Other than inculcating a love of the English Language in his students, he aims to develop proficient and competent learners, not only in harnessing and utilising the authoritative power of language, but also in employing language effectively to wield authority and influence in their daily and lifelong interactions.

To truly be MAESTROS of WORDS in their own right.
